A reading ritual does not have to be ambitious. A few pages while a drink cools are enough to make a small pause feel different from scrolling.
Put the book where the pause happens
Choose a place where you already sit: a chair by a window, a regular café table or the quieter end of a train journey. Put the book or reader within reach. It is easier to begin when there is no search for a charger or the right app.
Give notifications a separate place
If you like, put the phone in a bag for a short reading session. There is no need to turn the ritual into a rule you must keep perfectly. Make it easy to repeat and allow the day to be different.
Pick the format around the books
Paper, a library app and an e-reader are all reasonable options. Before buying a dedicated device, check how you get the books you want. Some subscriptions and purchased book formats will not move freely between platforms.
The Kobo Clara Colour research note is one place to start if a small dedicated reader appeals. It covers the screen format and the practical questions I would check first.
Keep the little extras optional
A lovely cover can make a device feel personal, but it is not necessary to start reading. A cup, a bookmark and the book you already own may be the entire setup. Choose accessories only when they make the routine easier.
There are no health or sleep promises here. This is simply an invitation to make room for something you enjoy, a few pages at a time.
